Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s disease is on the rise and knowing how to work with clients with diminished capacity is essential for estate attorneys, CPA’s, fiduciaries and financial planners. With a combined experience of over 40 years in estate planning, living trusts, wealth management and business planning, attorneys Zeb Law and Shauna Anderson have counseled thousands of families in their respective firms making them experts in working with clients with diminished capacity. Please join us as they share best practices on how to work through this growing challenge.

R. Zebulon (“Zeb”) Law earned his bachelors’ degree (summa cum laude) from Long Island University, C.W. Post College in 1985. He went on to receive his J.D. from The American University, Washington College of Law in 1988, and his LL.M. degree (Master of Laws in Taxation) from Georgetown University. In addition, Zeb is a licensed Certified Public Accountant* (although please note the firm does not undertake any auditing matters).

Zeb has practiced law in Orange County since 1993. His practice includes estate planning, business planning, tax planning, and trust and probate administration matters. Over his career, Mr. Law has utilized his extensive knowledge and experience in tax and estate planning to implement advanced techniques that have resulted in millions of dollars of estate and gift tax savings for numerous high net worth clients (handling total assets in the billions of dollars).

Zeb has served on several state bar committees and has testified as an expert witness in a number of cases involving contested trusts. He has lectured nationally on estate planning matters, has been featured as a guest expert on talk radio, and has written and published numerous articles on estate and tax planning issues.

Zeb has been teaching as an adjunct tax and estate planning professor for over 11 years, and is currently teaching a graduate (and post-graduate) course in estate planning for the Dale E. Fowler School of Law at Chapman University in Orange, CA. Additionally, Zeb serves on the board of the Chapman University Estates & Trusts Advisory Committee, as well as the Chapman University Endowment Council.

Shauna R. Anderson is a State Bar Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law, a designation earned by fewer than 100 of the 15,000 licensed attorneys in the County. Shauna is experienced in living trusts, generational wealth planning, trust administration and asset protection. Shauna has personally helped over 3,000 families establish estate plans.

Shauna has a passion to get to know each of her clients personally. This allows her to have a better understanding of her client’s goals which generally include planning for a period of incapacity, probate avoidance, family wealth preservation, government benefit eligibility and planning, and the reduction or elimination of estate, gift and other tax consequences.

Some of the trust projects include various revocable and irrevocable trusts (e.g. Dynasty Trusts, Multi-Generational Trusts, Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts (IDGTs), Qualified Personal Residence Trusts (QPRTs), Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs), Medi-Cal Trusts, Individual Retirement Account [IRA] Beneficiary Trusts, Special Needs Trusts, etc.). Shauna also enjoys educating and assisting successor trustees when it is time to wind down the estate during the trust administration process.

When Shauna is not in the office she enjoys spending her free time with her husband and her three small children, Kaitlyn, Luke and Aubrie. They enjoy camping, sports and spending time as a family.
